Middle Of A Break Up has many typical P!ATD features such as sharp lyrics, a catchy chorus and Brendan’s signature vocal style and range.
The song starts with a guitar and keys combination channelling a song that would not feel out of place in the 80s. As the song builds and the vocal harmonies kick in I realise this song feels more like it belongs in a musical. A lot of Panic is quite theatrical so this is not too much of a surprise.
Later in the song there is a guitar solo that sounds as if it could be a tribute to Brian May.
This isn’t my favourite Panic song ever, but it is still a pretty good one.
